Rocking the Guitar

Thomas is doing great on his guitar! He learns a new song almost every week, including several worship songs. He loves to give concerts to anyone who will listen, but I love to listen when he's practicing. That's when he sings, and he has a great voice! I can't wait to see where this leads!

Halloween 2012

Introducing
Halloween 2012
starring
Lego Batman Villains:

 Chase Hughes as The Riddler

 Thomas Hughes as Two Face

and Mary Frances as Catwoman

We had fun with costumes this year!  Mary Frances and Chase's costumes were pretty easy, but we couldn't find a Two-Face costume that Thomas liked.  So, this year, I made one!  We went to Goodwill and picked out 2 shirts and 2 pairs of pants, and I made his costume...even the tie!  It was a lot of fun to see the finished product!  My dad made Chase's riddler cane, too!

We had candy for all the kids, but we also set out apple slices, peanuts, and sprinkles with caramel AND hot chocolate!  Ray C. cranked up some party music, and we had a really great night.
Honey, Grandaddy, Papa G. and Jessie all came over too!  Jessie even joined the Batman fun and dressed up as Poison Ivey!  She's such a great Aunt!
And, before everyone left, Thomas wanted to give a little concert of the new things he has been learning!  He did a great job, but it was funny to watch with his outfit still on and half of his head shaved!

Guitar Lessons

Thomas started guitar lessons at the beginning of the summer.  He loves learning to play, but I have a hard time getting him to practice amidst all of the distractions of daily life.  So, Tquan told him he would let him play the electric guitar if he could tell he'd practiced this week.
Needless to say, Thomas was thrilled to play the guitar this week!  He rocked Mary Had a Little Lamb like nobody's business!  :)  He played another "boogie" they've been working on, too!  His goal is to play the electric guitar, but we've told him he has to show us he is serious about learning to play before we spend any more money (or let him spend his own money) on more guitar stuff!  He's really doing great!
