Sprinkles anyone?

My sister loves her sprinkles!  I recently learned that she is even particular about which colored sprinkles she eats...they must be the soft ones!  It's just one more thing we love about her!

Tournament Champs

Thomas' team won the tournament!!!
It was a LONG weekend with two games on Saturday, and then THREE back-to-back games from 11:00 until 5:00 Sunday!  The boys were exhausted, but they did it!

Thomas played several positions, but he finished up at catcher, which is his favorite position to play! He got a homerun in the second game on Sunday.
Ray C. got the boys together just before going out...all we need is to hold them to one run and we WIN!
You have never seen a happier group of boys...as Ray C. called them...a rag-tag group of players!  We have one that does back flips when he makes a good play, one who jumps up and down on base after getting a hit, one who stresses about every play, and a few who watch the birds in the outfield!
So proud to have their Tournament Champion Trophies.  I would be willing to bet some of them slept with them last night! :)

Again..nothing is better than winning a game with your dad as the coach!

He's a Webelo

Thomas is now a Webelo!  He bridged over from being a Bear Cub Scout to a Webelo which he will be for two years until he becomes a Boy Scout!
We had a very special ceremony in Bridgeland with the K9 unit as our special entertainment.  We learned some really interesting things about police dogs and the way they work!
 Nick and his owner....
Thomas earned his Bear Badge and a few other awards
bridging over from Bears to Webelos!

We are so proud, and after hearing about 5 different Eagle Scouts that we have at our church, I am even more pumped about him being involved in such a great organization!

Fancy Nancy and The Posh Prince Day

To celebrate their "fancy" writing, the Kindergarten students dressed up in their most fancy clothes on Friday.  Chase couldn't wait since we recently bought him two new suits.  He LOVES to dress up in "handsome clothes".  This is Chase with his friend, Zach.

Building Approved

This past Sunday, our faithful Foundry members gathered at the Bridgeland Activity Center to hear the details about the new church property, proposed building, and financing.  The project was approved by an overwhelming majority.  Only one person objected -- the preacher's kids, Chase!  Everyone got a good laugh out of it, and our District Superintendent made sure that it was recorded officially for years to come!

We are so excited that all has been approved and the building is about to get started.  The projection is that it will take 8 months to complete.  So, it looks like we could be in the building in March!!  YAY!!!  This is what we moved here for!!  God is good!

Celebrating Jessica

Friday was Jessica's birthday, but since we were busy with baseball, we celebrated on Saturday night!
The adults went out to Sambuca in the Theatre District of Houston.  It's a restaurant we only go to for a special treat!  It was a fun night to spend with family.
The band sang Happy Birthday to "sweet Jessica", and the waiter brought her a special dessert.  I think we still paid for it, but they made it look nice!

9U Baseball Tournament

This weekend is Thomas' baseball tournament.  Today, they won their first game and tied the second game.  So, we play again tomorrow to see how we advance!
Jessie and Mommy had to get some pictures with the baseball player!  Isn't he a cutie?
This is one of Thomas' teammates, Kenneth!  I just love watching him play.  He is never lacking emotion - good or bad!  He is full of personality and absolutely loves to play baseball!
Team meeting after our tied game which, of course, felt like a loss...Antonio, Cameron, and Thomas.
Here's another one of Thomas' teammates, Chris.  He has a lot of fun out on the field, too!

We're looking forward to see how we do tomorrow!

The Rocking Chair Song

When Mary Frances was an infant, a very good friend gave me a CD with personalized lullabies for "Mary".  One of my favorite songs to play and sing was "The Rocking Chair".  We listened to it in the middle of the night while I was rocking her back to sleep.  After a while, we forgot about the song, and a few years later I sang it one night and she looked at me with big eyes and said she remembered it!  I know that sounds crazy, but just recently we have picked it back up and she loves it.  It is very soothing to her because she actually remembers me singing it when she was younger.  It triggers something very special inside of her.  I love that it does that, so we continue to sing it!

Anyway, I wanted to post the song for my own benefit and hers...to make sure we have the words one day if we forget it again!  So, here it is...

The house is hushed and still, my other blessings are asleep.
You've waited all this time.  Now to my arms you creep.
We walk all through the house, See the remnants of the day,
I push them all aside for we are on our way...
To the rocking chair.  It's waiting in your room.
The peaceful rocking chair where sleep will find you soon.

We cuddle with a book.  I talk about our day.
We sing a little song, and then a prayer we say.
We thank the Lord above for the blessings that He brings.
We thank Him for this love and list of many things,
Not least the rocking chair, our favorite place to be.
I should be feeling tired, but this is joy to me.

Looking at your face, I see it must be true.
The rocking chair brings sleep and quietness to you.
For mama it brings love.  Mary, someday you will know,
A place to thank the Lord for the blessings He bestows.
Our faithful rocking chair - it's purpose now has served,
For, Mary, you're asleep.  My prayers have all been heard.

"Champs" show Great Sportsmanship

Anyone who knows us well knows that Dierker's Champs has been a HUGE part of our lives for the past year!  Ray C., Larry Dierker, and numerous others have worked hard on creating this organization where boys can learn great baseball skills in an environment that is encouraging and inspiring to those we play.
Last night was a great example of how that is done!
The championship game started out with both teams praying together at second base.
The game was a nail biter...literally!  The boys were so nervous...not by any of the adult's doing, just because they love it and it's important to them.  Chase took BP (bating practice) before we left and once he got to the field.  He could hardly breath when he got up to bat and had to step out of the box several times to take a deep breath.  I teared up just watching his stress level, but once Ray C. reminded him of all the line drives he's had this year, he relaxed a little and hit in several more!!  We tied up almost every inning, but we came up short at the end and lost by one run.
The boys were disappointed at the loss, but they knew they had played their best.  They gladly took their runners-up trophies and congratulated the other team on their win.
My favorite part, because DC is so important to us, was when the other coach stood up and commented on how impressed he had been all season with our team's "class" and the coaches' ability to control themselves.  He even said he wished he could do that good.
The boys huddled up with Coach Ray who congratulated them on a great season and hard work.
Then, they begged to dog pile...after all that is what they did after their football games!
Nothing beats being able to share the season with your dad coaching!
