Fashion Show

Mary Frances had her friend, Katy, over for a sleepover, and they decided it would be fun to have a little fashion show - Katy picked out the outfits, and Mary Frances did the show!

Gotta Look Good for Family

My mom taught me that you should always look presentable - especially when you are seeing someone you haven't seen in a while.  So, as we were walking up to the restaurant to see Ashley and Emmala, I did  little check of the kids.  Chase caught on to what I was doing, and because he is loving his mohawk, he wanted it to look it's best too!  So, just as any boy would do, he spit in his hands, rubbed it together and straightened up his mohawk.

Mary Frances and I were totally grossed out, but knowing the kid, we weren't too surprised.  So, we all got a good laugh and rolled our eyes as we waked up.  Just a minute later, Ashley walks out the door to hug us and walks right up to Chase, rubs his head and says, "Cool haircut, dude!"

The rest of us all looked at each other, mortified, and Mary Frances pipes up, "I wouldn't do that if I were you!"  So, then we explained what happened, all had a good laugh, and encouraged Ashley to wash her hands before eating!

These are the stories we will be telling for years to come - especially at Chase's wedding and when he has kids!! It's the fun of being a parent, right!?!

Alfaro's and Rangers

We enjoyed lunch with Ray C.'s cousin, Ashley and her daughter, Emmala.  It was so much fun to see them again.  They have been living in Dallas for a while, but they are moving to Vancouver in just a few weeks.  They took us to a fun burger joint too!  Another place with wild game.  I'm liking the food in Dallas!
(The boys were with us too, but they were too busy playing around to be in the pictures!
Mary Frances was especially excited to hang out with another girl cousin!  She loved Emmala.

AND the Rangers!!  You can't go on a Hughes vacation without at least attempting to visit a ballpark!  We enjoyed a SUPER HOT game with the Texas Rangers.

My Princess

I love this girl!  She has such a great view of life.  She is fun to talk to, and I am thankful to have someone who cares about the girly things in life.  I love the way she ponders things, and I especially love her trust in the Lord.  God is already doing big things in her heart and through her life.

Raising Money

The kids love having Lemonade Stands to raise money!  This one is with our friends, the Alaimo's, to raise money for our VBS mission!

Time with God

I woke up in the morning with a strong desire to pray and read my Bible.  So, I sneaked out of the hotel room with my Bible and Ray C.'s ipad.  I grabbed some coffee, and sat in the commons area of the hotel for THREE hours devouring my time with God.  It was one of those times that I will never forget!  I couldn't get enough!  I alternated time in prayer and reading and then couldn't stop thinking about it all day!  I am so glad that I serve such an amazing God who calls me to himself for fellowship.

Dallas Stockyards

I was told that we must visit the Stockyards on our first trip to Dallas.  So, we took the kids for the day.  It was quite the Texas experience even if Dallas really isn't all that country!!
The boys had a little shoot out on the tracks in the center of town.
We stuck the kids in a maze to keep them busy for a little while.  :) We did watch them the whole time, and it was quite entertaining!  The only problem was when Mary Frances realized she had to go the bathroom - NOW!!!  That was really interesting!  Luckily there was a quick escape built in just for that type of thing!
Chase couldn't leave without riding a bull - another great personality picture!
Maybe we were born in the wrong century!
HELP!!!!  Have these kids been watching too many cartoons?

Dinner and Shopping

After a fun time at Legoland, we realized that our hotel was next door to the Bass Pro shop which had lots of photo opportunities!

 "Don't mess with my brother!"
And the restaurant attached to it was amazing!  Where can we find another Uncle Bucks?  Freshly made root beer and different types of game to choose from...yummm!

Legoland Dallas

Thomas has been begging us to go to Legoland for over a year!  So, we took the kids to Dallas for a few days.  Of course, we had to experience Legoland first if we wanted to enjoy the rest of the trip!
Thomas enjoyed it, but he was disappointed that it wasn't as big as the one in California.  However, we still managed to spend 3 hours in it!

Thomas also enjoyed this calorie-filled cookie when we left!

Luckenbach, Texas

Since we were close, we visited legendary Luckenbach!  I am so happy to say I have been there, but I won't mind if it's my only trip! We got the shirts and pictures to prove we were there!
It is a little honky tonk town with outdoor restrooms and no air conditioner.  The music was good, but it was so hot that I had a difficult time enjoying it. There was certainly plenty of people watching and all the greasy food you want.  However, the hot sun and greasy food are a difficult mixture for me - especially when the only bathroom available is outdoors and closed off by a curtain.  I guess part of legendary is not messing with the original, huh!?!

Enchanted Rock

We spent some quality time together in nature today!  The weather was perfect for it!
Ray C.  had to experience the caves.  I went a little way with him, but I stopped when it got dark and let him have fun while I waited for him to return!

Celebrating 15 years of Marriage

We are visiting Fredricksburg, TX to celebrate our 15 year anniversary and to recover from opening a new church!!  God is good!  Marriage isn't ever perfect, but it is worth the effort! I love having a man that is watching out for me and always telling me I'm beautiful!  I absolutely love this man...my protector and my friend.

Fry Road VBS

The first Vacation Bible School in our new building was GREAT!  We had so many kids and so much fun!  Now, I'll be honest. VBS is not my favorite church event!  It's the one thing I show up to each year out of sheer obligation as a pastor's wife.  It just seems like I should be there, but the number of kids in one space is overwhelming to me!  So, I am always honest with the organizers.  I am willing to work wherever they need me, BUT if they have a spot that does not require following the kids around for 3 hours every day, that would be my preference!

And they always have a place for me -- great lesson!  Some years I've helped with snacks, and some years I've been the storyteller! This year, I was in charge of overseeing the 5th grade boys count the money the kids were raising for our mission in Haiti!  I really enjoyed that!

And the kids were pumped about raising money for the mission!  We had a lemonade stand with some of our friends one day!  It was super hot, but they were able to raise money and donate to a good cause - another great lesson/learning experience!

I love our God!

School's Out for Summer

What better way to start the summer than with a good ice cream cone!  It's going to be a great break!
