Elementary Graduation

Mrs. Poff has been a fantastic 1st grade teacher! We are so glad we had her. She was so patient and king to Thomas! We will really miss her!
Miss Crosby was an amazing teacher, too! We think she should get the teacher of the year award! She thinks of everything! (Chase loves her too.)
Mary Frances has learned so much this year. She has learned to read and
has become a GREAT writer!!
We will miss Kindergarten, but we can't wait for 1st grade!!!

Dance Recital

Mary Frances' dance recital was a few weeks ago, and the girls did so good. She is in a Musical Theater class. They performed some songs from Grease, High School Musical, and more.

Look at our pretty princess!

Baseball is Serious Business

One of the things that has kept us so busy this past month is BASEBALL!! And it is serious business. Check out these pictures of Chase's team.

Check out this awesome pitcher!!

Preschool Graduation

Chase graduated from preschool in May! He is not going to kindergarten yet, but he will be in a bridge program at the same preschool. However, he is technically finished with preschool! All three of my children have been blessed to have the same preschool teachers. So, this graduation was sad for us all as it was our third year in a row with our precious Mrs. Sandy and Mrs. Dana!Chase and Mrs. Sandy

Chase and Mrs. Dana

I had a hard time deciding which picture to choose. So, I chose several for your enjoyment and my memories of a funny kid!!

He did it!!
Mr. Serious
He always loves the singing, and I love to hear the songs he comes home with! (He's the second one from the left on the bottom row.)

Mom's Munch

The preschool always has a mom's munch for Mother's Day. We get to go into the classroom, and the kids serve us brunch. It is so sweet. They made us several different things and even sang to us. It was a very special morning! I will really miss this about preschool.

Field Day

So....I'm way behind on my posts. It has been a very busy month for weddings!! The first week in May was just plain busy. I had 2 field days and a mother's day "munch" all in 24 hours!

Here are some fun pictures from Mary Frances and Thomas' field days at school. They had so much fun, and I just walked around with each of them and watched as they played!100 meter dash?

Mother's Day

This is the best card I have ever gotten! Mary Frances made it for me at school. One of my favorite parts is just that it is in her writing and her way of sounding out words. So, I'll translate it below!

The Best Mother

Loves me even if I lose softball games.
Always packs my lunch box.
Gives me notes in my lunch box.
Lets me go to slumber parties. (That was actually a hint!)
Takes me to school.
Takes me to the movies.
Takes me to get my nails done.
Is zany and oh la la!!
Has a green thumb.
(She was quick to explain that this does not mean that I pick their boogers!)
Loves me all the time.
Loves me bigger than her arms!

This made me cry. It's the best gift I could have asked for on Mother's day!

Beep Beep

Chase put a coin in the crack of my steering wheel last week - where the horn is! So, my horn keeps beeping randomly when I turn or stop at a light. It is SOO embarrasing! Crazy kid! Of course, if I take it back to the mechanic, they'll just laugh at me, too, because last time we took the car it was to remove the coins in the CD player. We even had them talk to Chase about putting coins into slots of the van! A lot of good that did, huh!?!

Fabulous Cakes

Check out the cakes from our events this weekend.....

This is a cake for an Engagement Party - made for about 500 people! It was ALL Tres Leches - and fabulous!!

This is the second cake at the same Engagement Party. The bride has a love-affair with penguins! This one was half pistachio and half marble cake - also delicious!!

And this .... yes, it really is a cake.... was for a Crawfish Boil thrown as a customer appreciation event. It fed 300. The only thing not cake or sugar is the beer. It is real beer. Everything else is was created by the baker! The can is made from Fondant. The corn, crawfish, and potatoes are all sugar, and the "ice" is rock candy! We actually had to stand with the cake to protect it from the people trying to take the beer thinking it was really an ice chest!! It was a HUGE hit!!

Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE my job?!!!

Cross my Heart

Mary Frances came to me this morning and asked, "Mommy, can you uncross your heart?" I told her that she should not uncross her heart. If she makes a promise, she should keep it. So, she says, "Well, Thomas promised me he would help me and then he said he uncrossed his heart."

We informed Thomas that wasn't very nice and he should not do that again! We were busy getting ready. So, I have no idea what happened with the actual promise! Probably...nobody did it!

Fancy Nancy Day

One of Mary Frances' favorite characters is Fancy Nancy! She loves taking ordinary things and making up an outfit that is FANCY or EXTRAORDINARY, as Nancy would say! In school, they have been learning how to use fancy words in their writing. So, today, the kindergarten had a Fancy Nancy and Posh Prince Soiree! You can only imagine how excited Mary Frances was to wake up this morning and get dressed. In fact, she was finished at 6:15!! This is Mary Frances with one of our neighbors!
We put her hair in a French Twist, let her wear my high heel gold sandals, and tied them on with ribbons! She wore her tutu on top of a nice skirt with a shirt detailed in ribbons. Of course, she also wore a tiara and jewelry all topped off with powder sparkles EVERYWHERE!! They had so much fun!

Baseball, Softball, and Baseball....

This is why I haven't posted! I've managed to take pictures, though! Our lives are completely controlled by this sport! While it is loads of fun to cheer the kids on, we are EXHAUSTED!! Little league ball is not just about having fun! It is all about learning and winning!! Whew!! Enjoy the pics!! By the way...Ray C. coaches both of the boys' teams. Both teams are Mudcats (and both of our boys are #34), but they are two different age divisions - 5U and 7U.

1st up...#34, Thomas Hughes playing for the 7U Mudcats...
Our 7U team is "un-undefeated" as Thomas says! We haven't won a game yet, but they have improved so much over the season! We're still waiting on that first win. The fun part is that they don't have any clue whether or not they've won until someone tells them at the end of the game. It's actually part of the huddle afterwards!!

Thomas is really enjoying playing baseball and has improved a lot. He hit a homerun in batting practice last week!
Ray C. has created a non-profit for our team (along with the other parents) so that we can have sponsors to help cover the cost of all our cool equipment and uniforms!!
Check them out! Don't they look good?!!
2nd up to bat...#1, Mary Frances Hughes playing for the 6U Panthers
Mary Frances' team gets three coach pitches and then two tries on the tee if they don't hit off the coach. She does really well off the coach, but she has to use the tee sometimes, too!
Although she really does love baseball, she can't help but be a girl and want things to look pretty! She cleans the plate and picks the flowers in the outfield IF the coach is brave enough to put her out there!! Really, though, most of the girls pick the flowers and play in the dirt!!
Mary Frances is a good player. She's made some good hits for her team and just got the MVP trophy for her game last weekend!
Can't help but be cute!!
She finally got to practice with daddy before a game! We usually have to divide and conquer with three different teams that each play or practice 2-3 nights a week!!! But, when he can, daddy comes to her games and helps out! It's a lot different than coaching the boys! The rules are completely different, and it's like hanging out at cheerleading camp with all the girls screaming on all the fields!
And last up to bat... #34, Chase Hughes playing for the 5U Mudcats
The 5U team is undefeated!! They amaze us all and keep us going nuts in the stands! They are actually ranked NUMBER SEVEN in the STATE in their division! Do you realize we live in the 2nd largest state in the country! WOW!
Chase LOVES to slide into home, but we've been having to work on him a little! This is going to get him seriously injured, but it sure makes for a fun game! He jumps before hits the dirt and then slides in sideways when he lands! He certainly has some great style, but it isn't very smart!
Chase is very serious about baseball! He has even been known to growl at the opponents as they come up to bat! He knows the plays and pays attention (most of the time) to where he is supposed to be. He got an amazing hit this weekend and made a homerun. He was grinning from ear to ear!
I'm sure there will be more pictures to come, but right now, all I've got is baseball pics!!
