You know the joke about how pastor's only work on Sunday? It's really not that funny...
If people had any idea...Pastors don't get to leave their job. They are always on call. They come home, but they could be called away any minute - a hospital visit, a much needed visit, crisis management, someone needs to get in the building, countless meetings, .....
Being a Pastor's wife has plenty of burdens as well. I don't know everything that goes on in the church, but I know more than most - hurting families are an incredible burden on the soul. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to minister to people in their time of greatest need, but it is hard to see people hurt - to want to do more!
My heart is broken for the families that are falling apart, but it is yearning for grace to be extended. It is difficult to develop deep relationships for fear that you might share too much.
